Quilt

I LOVE quilts!  I think they are such an amazing art form.  I have wanted to do one for a long time, but I was afraid of the tediousness of piecing.  Then I found a quilt pictured in a catalog (which was WAY more than I would pay) that I knew was my kind of starter quilt.  It had HUGE squares.  Less sewing!  I carried the picture around with me for months as I collected the fabrics I wanted in my quilt.
When I decided I had enough fabric collected, I called my friend Miss Tena, (the Queen of quilters) and she said "come on over" and we started cutting blocks.  I didn't have enough fabric, so she took me back to her fabric closet and we pulled out a few more!  We have all the squares cut and I have started sewing.  I had to put it on the back burner while I helped with the costuming for Tale of Two Cities, but I hope to pick it up again this week.

Our newest family member

Meet Mo (short for Moses).  He was found abandoned and was fostered by friends of ours.  Such a sweet face, we just couldn't resist!
He is an older dog (vet estimates 6-7 years) and is very obedient.  He is even learning to sit outside of the kitchen when I am cooking.    He loves to sit on laps, and everyone's latest excuse is "I can't move, the dog is sleeping on me."  He also loves to play and chase around.

A Major Milestone

Erik is an extremely careful child.  He rarely even had a skinned knee as a toddler.  So when it came to riding a bike, it was a huge leap into the Danger Zone for him.  He has tried every summer, but never could quite get the hang of it.  Training wheels were a disaster.  Since the weather was warming up, we decided it was time to start the yearly ritual of seeing if this was the year that Erik would ride.  It was!
Here's some video of him riding like a pro.

Erik's interview

Erik talks about learning to ride a bike and gives advice for new learners.
